✿ Ziqry's first School Vacation ✿

28 February 2015

Assalamualaikum & Salam sejahtera...

Kota Kinabalu is modern capital with a warm hospitality that you hardly find in many places around the world. Just around a corner you have long sandy beaches, paradise islands & the mighty Mount Kinabalu is only 90 minutes away. I was in Kota Kinabalu last week, for a little vacation. I went on a 4 days 3 nights trip during the last CNY school holiday. My companions were none other than my lovely sisters Bie & Fen, My lil bro Azmeer & the newly wed couple my brother Al & his wife Rubiah. My son & I have gone on vacation (his first school vacation) without his Abah. When I tell him about the upcoming trip I explain that Abah isn't going to be there so there are no surprises. When we're on the trip we talk to Abah at bedtime each day. Of course he misses him (& he misses us too!) but he's usually having so much fun, it's not too big of a deal.

Well..in the mean time, you can view some of the holiday pics we took there.

DAY 1 – KK waterfront Hotel

Address: Warisan Square, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen, Kota Kinabalu, SABAH

Phone:088-485 787

It is a great stay. very close to local attractions. The room was spacious & the location was good but we have to pay for fortune parking fee..huhu. Therefore, making it the best location in terms of accessibility to all the interesting spots (i.e. nightlife) in KK. Some of the rooms in the hotels boast a fantastic view of the sea. The rooms are very clean. I love the water pressure in the shower! The lights in the rooms make up for a cozy ambience. I had a great sleep the whole night we were there! there is a huge flat screen TV in the room, however the channels are quite limited.

The best thing about the hotel is that it is located just opposite STARBUCKS & of course other lovely eatery joints like Big Apple Donuts. So, if you do get hungry, just go down & out & you'll have what you want. The hotel is a 2-minute walk across to the waterfront where some of the best nightlife & water holes are. It's value for money.

DAY 2 Gaya Centre Hotel

Address: Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen, 88000 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Phone:088-245 567

The hotel is pretty old & run down from the outside but the rooms were okay. The main draw would be it's central location being in the heart of KK & near to several malls like Suria Sabah. Ideal location, suitable price, including free WiFi. They offered us a room facing the sea in 11th floor. Nothing to complain about it. Hahaha...

View of Kota Kinabalu City from our 11th floor room (can see the Capital Hotel too).

Time To Go Shopping!

Shopping location ;

-Kota Kinabalu Centre Point
-Suria Sabah Mall

DAY 3 & 4 Deleeton Hotel

Address: Asia City, 88000 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Phone:088-252 222

Stayed here for two nights, basic & clean also worth for the money. Room size is average & not too small. Strategic location close to shopping area (Centre Point Sabah), eatery (Restoran Sri Sempelang) & other city attraction within walking distance. Deleeton Hotel is my family favourite hotel actually..hehe..

It’s a proven fact, that with good time management, 4 days & 3 nights are enough to experience plenty of wonderful things that Sabah got to offer. Most of us want our vacation to be fun & spontaneous, but planning ahead won’t hurt either. Especially if you’re travelling with family or small kids, control is the keyword to keep a family vacation an enjoyable one.

So, don’t get to stress out planning, just go with the flow.

Till my next update! Stay tune! ;)

✿ Labu Merah Masak Lemak ✿

17 February 2015

Assalamualaikum..

Sorry for the lack of updates..huhu.. I think writing every day is pretty tough. It can be a challenge to produce great content day after day. It usually doesn’t allow much time to read & comment on other blogs. Bcoz reading other blogs is one of the best ways for me to get inspired to write new, fresh content or to share great recipes.

One thing we might consider (if you’re not doing it) is to hold back some of the posts that we write, so we can publish them during dry spells. That way, our readers don’t get overwhelmed with lots of content at once. My method is that I will write whenever I’m inspired, take a break from that article for a day or two, revise it, & post it at a later scheduled date. There’s no urgency for me to keep my blog updated either, since it’s only read by a handful of stranger readers..huhu..so sad. But nevermind.

Today I want to share with you all something which I daily experiment about..hahaha..let's check out the dish. A famous Malay style dish, and its Ziqry's favourite! :) A quick version of mine, best served with white rice.

✿ Miss You Ma ✿

Dear Ma,

I miss you so much, you were taken too soon, too young, too suddenly. every cell in my body aches for you, your voice, your hugs, your comfort. I wanted the best for you, and it hurts me so much that we were never able to achieve it. You deserved better in life. I wanted your smile to be true. I know Mum I love you. I will always love you. I know you loved me too. You know how you meant to me. I'll be with you forever. I'm the luckiest person on earth to have had you as a mother and It hurts to let go.

Now you are rest in peace I sincerely hope so. Ma, after you gone I miss you so much I cried and cried till tears dried I really don't know what I do without you, you are done so much for the family and children especially you have raised us as a useful person, I adore you and praise you Ma, you are my guiding light, my spirit inspiration and my best friend forever, I pray for you Ma and thanks, you sacrifice for all of us and family. I will always miss you.

How I wish I could just get one more moment, one more hug, or just one more joke in on you. We will meet again Ma. That's what I keep telling myself. Until that day, I'll never fear death. I love and miss you with all my broken heart.

For children who still have their mother, serve the mothers while they are still there. At least we still have a place to shed affection . For those who've lost their mother ( or father ) , try to be a good son/daughter, who always pray for forgiveness of his parents .. May Allah include us among the righteous people who prayed for both of their parents, Insyallah. Amin.
